Installation scope

Check before ordering

  • Compatibility reference: original ThinkSystem SR650 (7X05 / 7X06). SR650 V2 and V3 require a separate platform check.
  • Match the exact 3.5-inch option and its carrier to a supported SAS/SATA backplane. Verify the controller, cable set and firmware before replacing a drive.
  • With the 12-bay 3.5-inch chassis and an 8-port controller, the four AnyBay positions are NVMe-only in the documented layout; do not assume every bay accepts this SAS/SATA option.
  • Adding rear 3.5-inch drive bays changes riser availability and needs the matching controller connection. Check the installed rear-bay kit before adding drives.
  • The drive is rated at 24 Gb/s SAS. That rating does not establish a 24 Gb/s end-to-end host path; confirm the negotiated controller and backplane rate.
  • Lenovo lists SED support for this exact option. Confirm encryption state, supported controller and key management for the supplied drive.
  • The guide maximum is 14 drives, subject to the full supported configuration. This is not a stock quantity.
  • Request label and connector photos, firmware and drive-health data for the offered item. Availability, condition and warranty are confirmed in the quotation.

Use this Lenovo option number for the requested drive. Match the installed spare or FRU label separately.

The cited original SR650 guide covers a withdrawn platform. It is a historical technical reference, not a current availability statement for the individual drive.
