Questions about Synology storage and upgrades

Is an expansion unit a standalone NAS?

No. An expansion enclosure needs a compatible host. Confirm the exact host model, expansion interface and supported enclosure count.

Does every Synology drive work in every Synology system?

No. Compatibility depends on the system, drive P/N, firmware and intended role. Cache support and storage-pool support are separate checks.

What information should I send for a quotation?

Provide the exact model or P/N, quantity, workload, usable-capacity target, required upgrades and delivery destination. We can quote a chassis or a specified configuration.
